Proof of Tactless

When I checked the mail today I found a nice surprise crammed into my tiny apartment mail box. It was the proof for the next Gary and Ted collection, Tactless in the Face of Danger. Marvel at the pictures of the front cover with it’s handsome protagonists. Witness the majesty of the colossal bar code (I swear it didn’t look that big when I was putting it together).

I think I’ll be getting the books in sometime by mid March at the latest so start saving those pennies now.

And as an aside if any postal workers are reading this (especially if you work for a group that rhymes with Banada Roast), if a package doesn’t fit into the tiny mailbox please just leave a delivery notice and have the recipient pick it up. Some of us don’t really want things we pay money for damaged.

Day Trading

Marvel Comics Executive Editor Tom Brevoort is trying to trade his way to Fantastic Four #1 through his blog. Being the True Believer that I am got in on this. I offered up my copy of the NFL Superpro Super Bowl special for a copy of Namor #37 which Mr. Brevoort accepted. Fast forward a couple of weeks to today when I checked my mailbox and discovered a plain manila envelope that contained this:

Now I am the proud owner of Namor #37 (with a foil cover none the less) and a Certificate of Meaninglessness. So now I have something real to impress the ladies with and no longer have to lie about being the drummer in a Journey cover band.

Best Laid Plans or “What I hope to accomplish in 2009″

I’m not one to make New Year’s resolutions. It seems calling something a “resolution” almost sets it up for failure and non-consequential. I mean how many times have you heard someone say “It’s a New Year’s resolution, everyone breaks them” or a variation of that. So I’m making a list of things I want to do in the next twelve months, which is nothing like a New Year’s resolution. Nothing at all. Nope. Completely different.

So here comes the list:
• Blog More. I use a blogging platform to run the site but seldom make use of the blogging feature. I kind of want to change that. There are a few obstacles in doing this. The biggest one being my inability to properly convey my ideas in words (which is one of the main reasons I choose cartooning as my creative outlet). But I’m going to try. Besides practice makes perfect right?

• Draw More. Not just Gary and Ted but other things. In the last year 95% of all the things I drew where Gary and Ted related. While I enjoy drawing the strip, a change of pace can be nice. The creation of Zintel Wilderness Guide: Bears is a step in that direction, now I just need to continue on that road.

• Start Smoking. It seems that quitting smoking is a popular resolution but seeing as I don’t smoke anything I figured this is the next best thing. Added bonus: I get to make a quit smoking resolution next year.

• Produce at least one new Fireball story. I have this itch to do something with the character though I’m kind of having a tough time coming up with a story. So if someone wants to take a crack at writing a Fireball story let me know. Also I really need to put up the first two comics on the official Fireball homepage. This is less of a resolution and more of a reminder to myself.

So that’s about it. These are the things to expect (hopefully) out of me in the coming year.

Who wants to be my Xbox friend?

My Xbox360 friends list is sad, mostly due my friends and family owning PS3s. So if anyone in the Chocolate Danger Express (which is the collective term for the Gary and Ted readership until i can come up with something better) go right ahead and add me to your friends list. I don’t mind although if there is a way to add a note to it make sure you mention Gary and Ted in the friend thingy so I know you’re not a random racist preteen. My Gamertag is HyperWrench.

Zintel Wilderness Guide: Bears aka My New Strip

by James Zintel on December 10, 2008 at 8:01 pm

Who wants to read a new comic strip? Well now you’re in luck as I bring to you the Zintel Wilderness Guide to Bears a brand new comic strip done by me (James Zintel in case you didn’t know). Yes indeed I’ve finally launched my second strip after the minor set back that was Sasquatch vs. Robot.

I actually launched the strip back in November but waited until I had a few strips up before announcing it here (unless your following me on Facebook, where I announced it when the strip first launched). Enough rambling, hit up www.bearfactoids.com every Tuesday and Thursday for completely untrue and made up facts about bears.
